So I'm at this conference, right? And I'm listening to all these papers, mostly about interesting things, and contemplating the social assumptions of the presenters as they talk about the cultural context of the past. And go to bed quite exhausted with my brain full, and what do I dream about? A new reality tv show where they cross people with animals, and I'm watching an episode about seagulls and grackles where (after human-parental drama, stealing an egg & such) they end up with this little rookery of bird-people who are shoving live fish down their throats and talking about the socio-political consequences of their existence. Go figure.
