that house thing (part eleventy-something)

Still working on cheerful with decent success rate & manuscript revisions same. Twitter is nuts (~30 new people being silly at each other, 10+ actively... this evening involved ducks, gleeful pirates, singing toddlers, a house purchasing failure, and me sitting in the corner giggling while trying to edit photos... and about the time it devolved into the llama-llama-duck song [personal profile] grauwulf got a call from someone he's been friends with for about 12 years, which was followed by one of those conversations that starts, "You know why I love you? Because you're NOT CRAZY!" and this time ended in a paean about how he loves me because I'm the sort of person who's never even had mescaline. I did not endeavor to point out how large a subset of the population shares this trait with me.)

In any case, this is why I allow the aster to take over half the garden bed:

and now, with pollinators!

(but one more aster, first!)

The construction seems to have wound down to a "promise two things, finish one" schedule, as we get farther and farther behind (and therefore up against all the other projects they have scheduled) Anyway, the Saturday before last, we had concrete inside & out:

(this part looks good)

How to Kill an Oak Tree:

(and this part not so much. yes, that is delaminated & crushed 3/4" plywood)

We have now got basement stairs:

and a back deck, kinda:

Insulatiums! (this was from yesterday...)downstairs:

and upstairs:

Also yesterday I had to go yell at the irritating guy for smoking in my house. He said, "oh, I forgot." I yelled further. This morning Warren mentioned that they fired him. (I feel a little odd about that, but this was not his first offense. He'd been consistently unable to take directions, had been a problem to work with for the rest of the crew, was the one who dumped my bucket of sand for cigarette butts (which he had not been using) *somewhere* to use it to carry about concrete, and was also the last person to talk to the guy driving the cement mixer before he backed out & couldn't get back in again. So, not my favorite person.)

Today:

Also replacing the main support beam of the house, which was supposed to happen when [personal profile] grauwulf bought the place, only the people who had an escrow to fix it never did, & then their company appears to have died. So, old beam looking sketchy, new super-exciting permeated wood beams on floor, beginning of temporary walls to jack up the house enough to do the replacement.

I think it's time to head for sewing machine & hallowe'en costume before my evening becomes any more surreal.

Xposty from dreamwidth, but yes, I'm still here.
