my doll has a brain...

I found my watercolors yesterday; it turned out they were in the box I'd put in storage saying "I'll put all these things away later" and forgotten about. (now if only my copy of The Merlin Conspiracy would turn up, too...) I sprayed my doll with fixative, and then ran out of daylight to paint by before it dried completely, so she still isn't painted. And then I put in eyelashes, and maybe I won't paint her (at least now) after all...

Right now, she's contemplating the miniature copy of Dr Jekel and Mr Hyde I got over the weekend. It seems like her sort of book: something old fashioned, about monsters and human frailties. I suspect that when she's done reading it she's going to want to have esoteric conversations with people, which won't work at all well, given the lot around here.

And I have been reminded that tomorrow is (as Shary put it) Party-Gras, a thing which I normally remember on ash wednesday, and so I remind everyone to wear something exciting tomorrow. Or at least eat a cookie or something.

Did you know that in Louisiana, the kids generally get Mardi-Gras off from school? Although that sounds like a better reason for a holiday than some of our other "celebrating people's deaths" holidays....

We had Fat Tuesday as a holiday when I attended the University of Southern Mississippi.

Somehow it seems like a better idea for a college to have an ash wednesday holiday instead...

It's good to have a brain.

As it happens, she's even got a spare. (although I didn't try to fit either of them in with all her eyes and s-hook and headcap going on-- one wouldn't want them to get too squashed.)

Do your other dolls have brains? That's such a bizarre accessory.

(And it seems so odd to consider a brain an accessory...)

Most of them have empty heads.

The brain is one of those squashy stress things with a marketing logo on the back, hence why there isn't a more side-on picture. It just fit so nicely...
