Crazy mad sheepy wig at 1 AM!!!

Made with Genuine Sheep Content. And very long-pile that creature was, too, not to mention full of little plant bits. (the wool came to me through a craftster swap as extra raw fleece, washed but not otherwise processed) I was afraid it was going to be way too big, but I'm actually quite taken with the wild sheepy hair look. It may get tribalized and tamed slightly at some point (because what wild sheep girl doesn't want bone beads in the shape of skulls in her hair?) but I hope just enough so it's easier to see her horns and not much more.

In other news, I'm down to one box still unopened of fabric to inventory (and then I must box the inventoried stuff back up, since the empty boxes are hanging out in my parents' room, and they were last heard from leaving CA on tuesday...) and the house has been returned to something resembling presentable, at least until tomorrow or so, when the cat will have tracked a nice layer of clumping pine sawdust all over the floor again. Sigh. But see, I do think about other things than dolls, really!

Oooh - I love that!!! Definitely something there worth exploring and pursuing - it's very wild and very, very cool! What kind of face-up would go with such a wildly organic look....

Thanks! I'm waiting for her proper eyes before I make any final decisions on face painting, but I'm tentatively thinking mirroring the kind of very pale colors in this wig. We shall see. :)

That is PERFECT.

I love the sheepiness -- the smooth resin (no seam lines, right!) with the wool, Beryl's clean lines with the wild disarray of the hair. In my observation, the bjd aesthetic usually favors perfectionism (beautifully made clothes, clothes, not a flyaway hair in sight, immaculate face ups), and you know that is lovely, but it makes wildness all the more striking when you see it. (Also, I am a force on entropy, so I'm biased.)

I am not an every hair in place kind of person; I long ago resigned myself to the fact that if I'm doing anything active by the end of the day I'll have wispy bits of hair pulling out of my braid that reach most of the way to my waist. (sitting at a desk all day just frees the shoulder-length bits) Of course, having made this mental adjustment, I look at all the perfect every-hair-in-place photos and they look fake to me.

I kind of like that you don't see the horns immediately. I love the horns, but the fly away hair that kinda hides the horns is a great effect. It makes her even more wild and animalistic to not obviously display them.
But then that could be my own ascetic... I like subtle.
What color are the horns going to be? Ivory, Tan, grey, glossy black?

Possibly a subtle tortiseshell, but we'll have to see.
