(he is leaning against the pillow because otherwise you would have to see the glitter-covered advent calendar pop-up house that was sitting right behind him. Why it hasn't gone away yet I'm not entirely sure-- well, ok, it's because that sort of thing happens around here, and admittedly I have my own things that should have been put away/dealt with months ago...)

And yes, he has got an armadillo in his pocket.

Also, Target is evil... they have these shoes (which I totally don't need for any reason) up to a boy's size 2 in the "local" store, and not even that online. While all the boring sneakers go up to a 6, and I only need a 5. Admittedly, I was looking in the boy's aisle on the off chance they'd have saddle shoes (ha) which I also don't need, but still...

Oh! I thought it was a nifty little pocket watch he was wearing.

What's his name?

Oh geez - you're a person with small feet, aren't you? *rolls eyes*

not really. I wear a size seven, which is the bottom end of dead center normal, according to some people, and means that my size usually sells out of the interesting stuff if they don't get their ordering quantities right. If I had really small feet, I would have been looking in the girls' shoe department. :) And I did do a little bit of searching and discover that the pirate shoes may not have even been made above a youth size 3, anyway. Don't they think high school kids think this is cool?

And Waif is looking mildly astonished by the parrot trying to take off from his shoulder. I think Jack should definitely take it away before it starts hitting him in the face with its wings.

Well, there will no doubt be some sort of conflict over the parrot. Alyce has a songbird called "Captain Flint"

Is there any way, too, that I could coerce you into letting me copy/borrow that vest pattern? It's just too charming.

(I happen to have huge feet, btw, and it's hard for me to find cute shoes too - especially if I don't want to look like I'm walking on gunboats.)

strangely enough, it's pretty much from your vest pattern. I combined it down to being only 4 pieces, (front+front side+a bit of skirt to lenthen it, and the same in the back) and then had to shrink it because the soom torso is smaller around. The sides are sewn to where the original top pieces end and then hemmed, and I hemmed the top instead of adding the collar. And there was still enough overlap for the front. The only thing I added were the pockets, which were just rectangles...

But admittedly, this is a bit more complicated that I realized when I started typing it out. I can certainly bring the pattern out the next time I see you; you'll just have to make it a little bigger to fit your boys. I'm also working on version 2, which has a more modern v-shaped neck; we'll see how that goes.

Um... I don't know. But I don't seem to be doing anything next weekend, having opted out of the MD sheep and wool festival. Theoretically I could even try hosting another craft day and see if I could get more people to come.
