Right, so...

event yesterday was small, but worthy. Much fighting was had by all and nobody passed out from dehydration or heat related issues; I apparently need to practice actually taking control of people's blades in slow motion for several hours until I can do it without thinking about it for 10-20 seconds first. Most likely the same thing needs to happen with getting my sword un-trapped from other people's hands.

For those of you who aren't on [livejournal.com profile] dante_di_pietro's journal, you should read this article about how the mind works, and the ability to train things like field sense and higher observational skills. It's rather long and scholarly, but terribly cool. And basically says that things I just assumed were true about developing melee field sense are a new scientificly noticed thing and actually starting to be taught.

There were waffles this morning for father's day, and once again I am disappointed in my recipee. Does anyone out there a) actually make waffles, and b) have a recipee to recommend? However, the rest of the morning was productive, and the raccoon bones and deer skull are out of the bathroom, most of the scavenged bottles are dealt with (either cleaned or thrown out) and it is now my brother's job to clean the rest of the bathroom before we have relatives on Wednesday.

And I had to give up on craft day, but this is because I get to go to the 90th birthday party for my grandmother's cousin (who I quite like) which I had thought was yesterday, but wasn't. Which is nice.

we have a really good waffle recipe, from a friend of [livejournal.com profile] lagged_variable's.

-separate four eggs, beat whites until stiff, set aside
-sift 2 cups flour, 2 T sugar, 2 t soda, 2 t baking powder, 1 t salt
-beat egg yolks
-add flour mixture to egg yolks alternately with 2.5 cups buttermilk
-add 4 T oil to mixture
-fold in egg whites with spatula

It's got to be the buttermilk. My waffles are from an otherwise similar recipe, and usually don't taste like anything (or like very little) unless I dose them with vanilla or nut flour or something, and then they don't taste much like waffles.

thanks.

I've always looked at [livejournal.com profile] fishy1's driving in lots of traffic like that. (Or anyone that's learned to drive well in a city environment, probably) I wonder how many other places there are, now that I'm looking for it...

I always look at waffles as a texture, rather than a flavor. So while I like and make waffles occasionally, they still basically taste vaguely bread-like, and have a good smell and texture for adding syrupy things to. [livejournal.com profile] astormorray's recipe seems pretty similar, though I don't use buttermilk in mine, and occasionally substitute flax meal for some small amount of the flour.
