Shameless plug!
Jan. 12th, 2006 05:11 pmI was going to post something about Serenity, which we saw on back on Sunday, and how well they did the concept of the faceless enemy inside us all (or rather, 10 percent of the population). But my brain isn't functioning on essay-level right now, so instead I'm going to tell you that those of you who don't already should read this webcomic:
http://www.thistlesalad.com
For some reason, I think it would particularly appeal to
skittblink,
fishy1,
troyfish, and possibly
reabhecc. But I'm not quite sure why I think this, so I could be wrong. And I know at least des needs more useless stuff to do about as much as I need more barbies...
But anyway, it's a lovely comic (in the graphic novel sense), with lots of magic and violence, and although those of us who aren't
saladmonkeylamb never understand all of what's going on, there are over 400 comics already up, so you've got a fighting chance of working some of it out. Having had some familiarity with her work (and that of her twin sister, too) for several years now, I'm tremendously impressed with the complexity and interconnectivity of her personal mythology, most of which she's drawing on here. But like I said, I'm not thinking in essay mode right now. So just take my word for it and go read it, 'cause it's cool. :) Now, now, now!
