rain. wow.
Jun. 26th, 2006 11:10 amSo for those of you who aren't in the DC area... after a quite dry year so far, the weather appears to be trying to catch up. We got upwards of 3 inches of rain last night alone, some yesterday morning (or so I'm told-- it wasn't raining in Richmond, where I was at the time) and now it's raining again. very wet. All sorts of odd things happening transport-wise in the city, which I trust will get sorted out before I have to go anywhere (probably tomorrow or wednesday.) And we had the standard thing where the gravel bit of Kirklyn Street washed down onto our driveway, and my parents got to go out and shovel it back uphill again. Ah the joys of homeownership. (I was still asleep at that point, having gotten very little sleep the night before, because I am an idiot. Though I went out after breakfast and cleared some of the plant-matter debris that the stream left when it overflowed the driveway, which I'm sure is about to be replaced if this downpour continues.)
And the battery in my computer is working pretty well in the thunderstorms. Unfortunately, the network and/or wireless modem is not. I need to figure out what's going on with that before the intermittantly flickering network drives me batty. Right now, it seems to have gotten over itself and is working just fine. This morning I was getting some signal and less actual net connection, and last night there was minimal signal, and no network whatsoever. Good thing I don't play any network games...
End semi-pointless update. Theoretically, we are back to going out to St Mary's Cemetery sometime in the near-ish future. We shall see.
