cold-cold-cold

So at least according to the forcast, today is supposed to have a high of about 23, with below zero wind chills all day. We are not planning on going out in it. Instead, we'll be doing some paperwork that we didn't finish up yesterday (as the temperature started dropping, and everyone was doing things that involved having to hold still and freezing...), log in the artifacts to take back to the lab, and going home. I might even have a chance to get to the library and get an audio book or two this afternoon. How excellent.

There were intense flurries last night, some of which actually stuck to things (so I guess they weren't really flurries, oh well...) and were very pretty. Except the scrapey thing for cleaning off my car is buried under all the things in the back. Oops.

just got hit by the valentine's day advertising this morning...

( are real people really this shallow/materialistic/dumb? and why would we want to encourage them? )

Sorry. I think I've complained about this before, too. It's just really annoying. Even more than being the target audience, I hate having advertising try to tell other people what I'm going to want.

Moral: Those of you who thought the princess should choose the fifth prince will now write on the blackboard 100 times: "I would rather have a piece of feldspar than a diamond necklace." (from "the princess and the tin box"... I think it's by Thurber?)
