on the way back from carpooling with
garden_goth to the company winter party in Baltimore (maybe more later) we were driving down a side road most of the way to my house when a rabbit pursued by a fox ran out into the road in front of us. The fox sensibly ran straight across the road and out of our way, but the rabbit went straight down the middle of our lane across the bridge over I-66 and dove off into the woods on the far side. I feel kind of bad about making the fox lose his dinner, but it was pretty cool.

mmm, snow...
Feb. 25th, 2007 02:22 pmwe have about 4 inches so far. Today also seems like a really good day to hibernate.
Of course, so did yesterday, although I did manage to get out and do things, and it was fun once I got there... there was fencing, at which I got 20 points (only 2 wins, but nothing too shameful by way of losses... well, except perhaps the last one where
troyfish tried to give me helpful advice, which apparently still throws me off entirely) and a green dangle for appearing hopeful to the people giving out ribbons. And there was company party at the Baltimore Science Center, with ice sculpture, live muzak, and good food, as well as an Imax on the Serengetti (about, not located on, that is) and
garden_goth and I got to wander around and play with the paleontology and weather exhibits. They have a plastic skeleton to assemble and a tornado to play with and everything. And we met everyone's dates and spouses, none of whom seemed quite how we had pictured them.
I should really do something useful. Perhaps I will make the list of all the useful things I wish to get done in the next couple weeks, before going back to not doing them.

totally unproductive
Feb. 25th, 2007 09:01 pmthis appears to be my motto for today. And I have this sneaking suspicion that we will in fact be going out into the melting snowy world tomorrow and soaking ourselves in the woods. No fun. I could use an extra day off, considering that today consisted of a great deal of napping and staring at nothing-in-particular. (well, and watching it snow...)
I have a list of 6 things I want to accomplish in the next few weeks, none of which have I started yet, and I have finished re-sizing and uploading all the images I had done once and that got lost with the old HD for the 2004 travel sections on my website. Next I have to put them in things, so people can actually look at them...
