For those of you who didn't look at the metro section of the Washington Post this morning:
This is that cool site I liked, before I got sick of being there... It remains terribly cool, and they found descendants! (I was not out there for the media day-- I was in the lab processing the huge quantities of artifacts which apparently need to be dealt with in time for the paper to be presented at the 2009 SHAs)
And you should scroll through the pictures... the last one is a couple pieces of a lovely little lady (doll)-- there are actually two more pieces in that bag that weren't as impressive to send out for show and tell, but they all mend to almost half her head (the whole right eye socket, cheek, and around to the back of the head) and the other day Donna was washing what is almost certainly her other ear that got dug up with another strat. Most of the doll parts we found were chalk-white porcelain, and smaller, but this was probably someone's extra special christmas present on year. With little pierced ears and everything.
