thanate: (bluehair)
My brother departed for the left coast this morning, and then I went off to work, and the exterior of the house was invaded by termite-poisoners. And I cataloged melted seed beads (cool! strings of seed beads that melted together when they burned-- now I want to string up some of the cheap ones I'll never use and throw them into the fireplace...) and lots of less interesting stuff, sitting on my own in the warehouse because the lab was full of too many other people, with my i-pod and speakers coincidentally piping my music into the girls' bathroom. And Brian brought in the giant rucksack he got in Peru, and I realized that it looked like it had been overdyed with curry. And there was dinner, and continued termite people (since it really seemed like a good idea to get that finished up completely before it started raining this evening) and fencing, and cleanliness, and I just spent almost the past hour trying to type up everything you need to know to start sewing with a machine for some girl on craftster who decided I would be a good resource. I'm not sure if I'm a good resource or not-- I certainly can't point her to any "this is how you start sewing" books or websites.

And that, my friends and acquaintances, was about my day. I regret that I have nothing interesting to tell you. However, it is now raining, which is excellent (I think if it rained for 40 days and 40 nights I'd be in trouble, because I would be busy enjoying it and wouldn't notice there was anything odd until the electricity shorted out or something) and my random thought for today is: If complex social interaction is considered the step just previous to language in the development of intelligence (as in great apes who have complex inter-personal politics, although they won't learn actual language unless there's a human around to teach them) does the fact that I am very good at my language, and absolutely hopeless at the political dynamics of people in large groups and often small ones make me higher or lower on the scale of intelligence? (this is of course treating intelligence as a continuum, which is not even remotely the case...)
