and now, with drunken birds!
Sep. 15th, 2009 07:32 pmSome generous squirrel has provided us with tree-to-door walnut delivery service.

Yesterday, we had our first indication that there may actually be birds eating the berries off of the pokeweed I've avoided cutting down for them. I went out in the middle of cooking dinner to pick some basil, and there was a bird sitting there, eyes shut, in the middle of the front walk. It completely ignored me as I tip-toed past to get the basil, but when I mentioned it to
grauwulf he went out and petted it on the head. It looked up at him, and then flew away, so our best guess was that this was a temporary effect rather than some sort of illness. I'm just waiting for the starlings to start hosting drunken revels in the lawn...
I have accomplished surprisingly much today for having had a nagging headache the entire time, although very little of it is currently presentable to a larger audience. Unfortunately, however, I have not managed to make it to the library for some nice quiet writing time, or the grocery store for Supplies. (And I sent
grauwulf off to fencing without feeding him first, which is very sad, despite being mostly his idea. Although it meant that I did get my pasta with oil & parmesan & artichokes & olives after all, which was nice.)
