There are a few personnel changes going on in the corner of the Aquarium I volunteer in, which meant that this morning the animal care people were a little short staffed, and I got to feed crickets to a monitor lizard by way of helping out. She was quite enthusiastic about devouring them, but I'm not quite sure what it says about me that I feel bad about causing pain or trauma to a cricket in the process of picking it up so that I can squeeze its abdomen in a pair of long tongs so a lizard can eat it head-first.
