back to packing oatmeal and blankets...
Jul. 30th, 2010 02:20 pmThe landscaping people outside the Food Lion have put in a bed of coneflowers, and this morning as I drove past it, there was a goldfinch hanging out on one of the seed heads. Yay for native plantings!
We'll be at pennsic for set-up, and then head back again late next week for the duration; I'm having trouble with the concept of packing for tent set-up when I haven't even finished doing all the machine sewing I want to do before war week. Camping once again in Dalhraidia, on the shady side of Abandon Hope down by the lake-- In recent years Wolf's Den has been next to us on the outside corner. Rumor has it there will not only be an assortment of skulls on pikes, but large standing stones as well. Whether I will be fighting or not is yet to be determined, but I'll be around.
Aside from that, we have finally gotten a large (window) a/c unit for the downstairs just in time for it to cool down enough to be livable anyway. I regret neither the purchase nor the weather.
Three of the five mornings this week involved getting up early and more-or-less jogging around the neighborhood in a roughly one-mile circuit. (This was
grauwulf's bright idea.) I have not done so much running since enforced gym classes, and am suddenly aware of how much the little bits of exercise I get around the house are skewed towards strength rather than cardio; the backs of my legs have also been reminding me me how little walking I do these days by trying to convince me that I was no longer able to go down stairs without limping. This morning I was less sore, but there was too much tired and not enough motivation (and the cat trying to sit all cuddled up in my armpit) to get out and pretend to run, and by mid-morning my legs were aching because I hadn't done anything with them.
