thanate: (bluehair)
When I grow up, I want to be an author so that fifty years from now I'll have something to talk about besides old family history & the gas bill. [personal profile] grauwulf says it doesn't count unless I actually finish something and start working towards publication. Right now I have a single book followed by an unfinished trilogy (which I need to finish in order to sort out what I'm doing with the world and tighten everything up accordingly) and a bunch of mice who I'm not entirely convinced are conventionally marketable.

The inlaws are hanging in there, though visiting [personal profile] grauwulf's grandparents is still a bit like getting stuffed into a countrified knick-knack shop for the weekend, and his grandmother is one of those people who insists on trying to feed you two to three times as much as you are actually capable of eating. This week [personal profile] grauwulf is taking a class in Reston of all places (this is an hour without beltway traffic, but of course there's always beltway traffic...) and so for one reason or another there hasn't been a great deal of sleep lately, and after I went along with him on tuesday so that we could have dinner with my parents, and then went in to the aquarium yesterday morning, the cat has decided that I might run away forever if he doesn't do something, and is practicing finding the most inopportune moments to curl up on my lap and purr for half an hour at a stretch. He had to be taught to sit on people, and I haven't usually got the heart to discourage him.
