Summer has hit like a brick, and we're back up to highs in the 90s for the forseeable future. (Well, the forecast says high 80s for several days, but that's not going to fool my thermometer. Butterfly garden notwithstanding, I miss those sycamores that used to be in the front yard...) Fortunately the re-installation of the window a/c units went smoothly on Sunday morning, so we can save ourselves by contributing to the awfulness of the outside. And it's nice drying weather for the quilts I just washed.
I was going to go see The Cave of Forgotten Dreams this afternoon, only I discovered that I hadn't paid enough attention to the movie listing and the AFI silver has got it in 2D, so
grauwulf can go too, should I pick a time that he's not at work. On the whole this is nice, but it's just another thing in a chain of plans that didn't quite actually turn out which is becoming frustrating. I need to pick some project and apply myself to finishing it, which would be a nicer prospect if we weren't looking at quite such appalling temperatures in the craft room.
At any rate, the dolls have migrated downstairs to the dim and less baking corner of the dining room, though Lady and Miss Beryl are both still sitting about in their underwear (Miss Beryl with a little button on that says "Legion of Decency"...
grauwulf found it for her when he was knocking apart the kitchen wall, I think.) and the starving dollshe is showing off his ribs again, since I couldn't quite face the thought of leaving him in that nice thick wool sweater all summer. Everything else is put away, except for a couple wigs that I actually listed for sale on the MP (gasp-- um, people who aren't full members of Den of Angels won't be able to see this) which is my first sale post ever, oddly enough. With luck it won't be such a horrible experience that I never do it again.
( Flopsy, Mopsy, and Cottontail, and the world's most unconcerned rabbit )
We also, after much delay and deliberation, have finally acquired a new vacuum cleaner. It's this one, which may be part seduction by the exciting dyson vacuum technologies, as their extending hose design is rather pathetic and a bit irritating to work with. We didn't get the "animal" one because I don't feel there's any excuse for a modern vacuum cleaner to weigh more than 20 lbs, but the mid-level one seems to work beautifully, and more to the point I can now get rid of the awful nemesis vacuum that both the cat and I felt was evil (being extremely loud, only moderately effective, and with a motor that failed to comprehend the notion of turning off for hardwoods or detail work.) By comparison, just about anything will be lovely.
