I started out making paragraphs, but this is more of a bullet point list, really:

Had strange and vivid dreams, first about visiting an overcrowded museum with a bunch of real people who I'm pretty sure have never all been in the same place at once (mostly from lj) and trailing around with the group, trying to get to museum exhibits with long lines and being very annoyed at one of the group who for reasons I'm not clear on at the moment I really didn't want to be around. Then I went home, only it was to a brand new house where I was all on my own for a couple days, and then I ended up getting talked into harboring a couple guys who were a) construction workers and b) hiding from the law for some reason (possibly not having visas? it wasn't anything dangerous to me unless they got caught) who kept tracking mud & grass clippings into the house, which made it very difficult to hide that they were there. And then the people from the first part of the dream came back and were trying to make me go get lunch with them or something, and I didn't want to leave the house empty. Very odd, though I can trace out most of the influences. (or perhaps because of that)

We now have construction on a third front, as the neighbors uphill have got people in to replace their roof; it's some sort of weird textured metal sheeting, bits of which blew off the new year's before I moved in and the person who replaced them just nailed right through them the way you'd do ordinary shingles, so they've had leaks for almost three years. I guess it's just construction season.

Also, I just downloaded Ragged Kingdom by June Tabor, Oysterband, which I discovered while looking for "The Hills of Shiloh" (song); they did a cover of it, and I liked their sound, so I tried the album-- it turns out that I still like their sound, and find the album strangely fascinating because there are about three songs on there that aren't covers or alternate versions of something I already know. Mostly folk songs, but they've also got a lovely acoustic "Love will Tear us Apart," which I will need to add to a mix somewhere just for the double-take value.

The mimosa is gone; [personal profile] grauwulf got all excited about it & we took it down last night in the dark. Having someone a couple inches taller than me and a step stool did very nicely for the bits I'd had a bit of trouble with earlier, and dark isn't really that dark around here with the orange glow from Baltimore & all the streetlights anyway, so that's all sitting out of the way by the front fence. Now I get to decide what to replace it with.

I'm continuing to knit the giant sweater of giantness, one row at a time, using 3 27" size 9 circular needles like DPNs, since apparently the local craft stores don't believe in longer needles. But it seems to work, so the main irritating thing is ending up with 3 needles the same when this is over.

They've cleaned up the asbestos pretty well, at least to visual inspection, (reportedly there was talk of docking pay for any chips left behind) and there's someone else out finishing the last bit of the side that was nearly done.

I've moved on from exciting salads to getting lots of apples; there's a place at the farmer's market that has honeycrisp for $1.99/lb, which is pretty awesome. I can't say I remember the last time we actually had fall this early; I think it used to be fairly normal, but the last few years we've had ridiculous heat into October. It's been cold enough in the last week that if it weren't such a problem to unbury the heater and get all the dust out before the construction is finished I probably would have turned it on a couple times already. As is, it isn't quite cold enough to be worth the trouble. We have sweaters.

Poisoning fruit flies with molasses dregs mixed with a splash of [personal profile] grauwulf's tequila; we had an infestation which may have come with the open basement or may have come from some farmer's market thing. Everything else (flies, mosquitos, etc) that we were seeing seems to have scaled back on its own with the colder weather. Come to think of it, leaving the heat off might help out with minimizing the number of stink bugs climbing into our walls where the top is open. Interesting thought...
