Good thing we replaced that...
Oct. 23rd, 2011 04:52 pmThis is what about half that beam that was holding up our house looked like on the inside:

Fortunately, this is what it looks like now:

(ok, less impressive than it might look, but this is the crazy imbued lumber that's strength-comparable to steel, even if it has got muddy footprints on it. I though about washing the mud off, but the air return duct is going to cover that soon enough.)
Also, I went to the farmer's market this morning & came home with a yard bat:

Presently, there is HV/AC ductwork ongoing, which is very loud, but with luck will eventually involve helpful air temperatures to make it to the rest of the upstairs. Crazy. Whether we have downstairs drywall and a second bathroom by the time we're trying to host a party this weekend has yet to be seen. However, there will be a giant bag of crayons and a plywood floor in the bedroom-to-be which will never be seen again once we've carpeted. We can make this work somehow.
(The HV/AC guys said something about guessing we wanted all this done in time for Christmas, or maybe Thanksgiving. I said, "two and a half weeks ago, actually." Stupid rain.)
