slightly over 16k (pathetic, I know) and the house on chicken legs is fishing. (didn't you always wonder what it ate?... although admittedly I didn't, until just now)
previous to this Caroline has also had another conversation with the snake, who tells her that the dead lady is her grandmother, and she muses over whether this is possible, what (still a very good question) she's doing in the Wood anyway, why there isn't anybody else on this perfectly good road, and where the pig went. Then she gets bored, wanders down a side track, and stumbles on the Witch's house, fishing.
Someday there will be advances to something resembling plot. maybe.
