Our well-lit tree (the old flashing string of lights, plus three new LED ones) casts light in christmas balls onto the ceiling.



Tarquin Supurflus, the cat of little brain, has taken to curling up near the tree when the lights are on.



And the Beryl-creature is teaching young Miss Doormouse about the finer points of string.

Thanks for posting a picture of your tree. We opted to do home renovations (the kitchen floor) this holiday instead of traveling or decorating. I'm happy we got it done, but I'm going through serious lighted-tree withdrawal. I love sitting there in the dark and looking at the little lights illuminating the tree -- I can't explain why. Although I think the thing I'm the most sorry about is not having time to hang up holly on the doors or anywhere.

If I get enough done tonight, I'll put up our little fake tree and hang some ornaments on it so we can feel somewhat festive tomorrow morning.

Our holiday tradition involves me throwing the box with the fake tree down the stairs from the attic, and then put it up and putting the lights on. Then my mother comes along and puts ornaments on it, and I complain that it looks cluttered. Either way, sitting in the dark with just the tree lights on is about on a par with watching falling snow for calming winter experiences. :)
