Ok, it's officially going to happen...

I have Amtrak tickets. A second set, actually, as I didn't clue into the bit about the westbound trip taking 4 calendar days due to starting out in the afternoon, and wasn't originally scheduled to get there until after I was supposed to do some of my conference volunteering. Fortunately, Amtrak isn't into the non-refundable thing.
So, (for those of you who care) the schedule so far is as follows:
I leave here (union station) at 4 pm on Monday July 14th, and arrive probably tired and ready to do something that doesn't involve sitting down on Thursday July 17 at 6:40 pm in Jack London Square, Oakland.
I plan to be at dollectable (in fisherman's wharf) from mid-afternoon on Friday until mid-afternoon on Sunday.
I leave from Oakland again bright and early on Thursday the 24th at 7:38 am to get to Emoryville and the zephyr by 8:10, and get in to DC at 1:30 on Sunday the 27th. And probably sleep until Monday if not later, since the only sleeper car upgrades to be had were upwards of $600 or sold out (depending on the day) so I'll be stuck in a coach seat the whole time.
....So the next thing to do is send out e-mails to the people I want to see while I'm there and sort out a schedule of who I get to see and stay with when. I also suspect I won't have a car, so I will be somewhat at the mercy of transit schedules.
(and no, I definitely will not be at Pennsic this year. Which is sad, but one can only do so much...)
