We have our permission slips from the state of VA, and it turns out that as well as only requiring ID (no blood tests or anything) we have also done all the signing of official papers that we had to do at the clerk of court's office, and the only further filling out of papers is done by the officiant. No witnesses or anything. It's very disappointing, really... So now we have to add making up our own non-official thing to sign to the list, lest the ceremony drop from an estimated 10 minutes if we're lucky to more like three. I'm all about short and sweet, but we also don't want the wedding part to be so short that people feel like they can blink and miss it.

Meanwhile, I have cut out the lining for my dress (provided by the lovely [livejournal.com profile] leimon_malakoi who fetched it from gulf wars for me) and am ready to move on to butchering the silk. Does anyone have experience with using dupioni with the warp and weft swapped? I am horribly tempted to try to put the obvious texture going up and down, rather than side to side, but I'm not sure whether that's a very bad idea in terms of fabric integrity.

The other several thousand things I'm supposed to be doing now are slowly, some of them, also getting done. More or less. In the mean time, I've been reading Ozy and Millie (since my parents now, thanks to my brother, have all the books there currently are) and been seeing startling similarities between their style of conversation and [livejournal.com profile] grauwulf's and mine. Except that we make more funny noises at each other...
