So, after spending... several weeks (at least off and on) working on something, which failed to work out, and got scrapped & restarted, and failed to work out again, and for some silly reason I kept working on it anyway to the point of coming up with a result I'm not at all happy with because there was a deadline but I took pictures anyway and pretended it was contest-worthy, I'm apparently no longer fit company for other human beings who want me to think and react to things. I don't suppose anything else that's happened this week is helping that, either.

But I went for a walk this afternoon, as there were a couple yard sales in the neighborhood, and while I didn't find anything worth buying, on the way home I came upon a black snake that someone had run over and left lying in the gutter. It seemed a waste to leave it there, nice hefty creature that it was, so I picked it up on the end of a stick and carried it home, assuring the neighbors that no, I wasn't about to let it go, since it was dead. And then I poked a bunch of holes in a largeish plastic container that came with cookies in it, dropped the snake in, and buried it lidless in the garden. If all goes as it's supposed to, I may have snake bones when I dig it up next year sometime.

In the mean time, have a cool video. I'd seen a picture or two of the crocheted coral reef before, but here's the story behind it with mathematical demonstrations and various other things. It's about 15 minutes, but definitely worth taking a look at.
