I don't really remember it from growing up (although perhaps I was always enjoying the respite from standing out at the bus stop and didn't notice) but we seem to have very high winds between solstice and the end of the calendar year around here. It snowed yesterday afternoon, but by this morning most of it had blown away.

Inside, we have the holly & the ivy, and some pumpkins (the little ones still going strong as table decorations from [personal profile] heuchera's wedding in mid-october) as stand-ins for yew, which we have not got.

The ornament is this year's offering from [personal profile] grauwulf, cast in pewter, although I did the painting with a rather peculiar substance that claims to be acrylic enamel paint. (er?) They came in blue & green, and in green and blue:

The holiday has been lovely, except for the microwave (which I only got a year and a half ago) deciding that the heating unit should be on any time the door is shut. So it's back to microwave shopping, as soon as we get done with playing silly video games-- we've got four of them loaned by my brother, another one given outright, and then I went and downloaded a bunch of silly things on steam last night, so I have been playing with amoebas and goo balls on my computer when I'm not putting up discounted LED light strings in the craft room and plotting what yarn to wind into balls next, now that [personal profile] grauwulf has gotten me a swift to do it with.

OMG, the WIND! It was wterrifying driving to work this morning. I just wanted to turn around and go home... so I can play video games and fuss with some doll-things or something that doesn't involve paying attention to anything that might possibly be related to the word, "responsibility."

Speaking of, I still have two of your doll heads all safe and boxed up in my closet.

Yes, I need to finish your sequin thing & we should get together-- possibly at least twice, depending on how long the sequining takes me (I'm trying to get into the "do at least a little every day" mode, which I should have started out with), not to imply that we shouldn't get together at a time when we haven't got projects to exchange.

The last week of the year ought properly to be intercalary and not devoted to work, I agree. Although it would be a pity if everything were closed, of course. :/
