thanateWell, the Megatherium is loving school, though from the minimal reports she gives, it sounds like she's also being a bit disruptive. She has best friends (the only one of whom I've met was a little black boy she shared her stagger day with, & several days later was disallowed to sit next to) and a sometime friend but maybe not who she got in trouble for stabbing with a pencil. And her school is on the "Primary Years" IB program, teaching them German, with 2 days a week of music & option to start learning a real instrument in 3rd grade, which all sounds lovely. In half an hour or so I head up there for a volunteer orientation; I have already submitted the background check paperwork so I can come in & read to the class or something. (Modern school security still creeps me out, tho I'm cool with criminal record checks for volunteers/chaperones.)
My brain is starting to decompress, which some days means I do productiveish things!! and some days means I spend $20 on embroidery patterns at the breakfast table & try not to melt down about the government being run by the party of "rape is a family value" and locking up other people's kids in concentration camps. We've had 3 local candidates come by & hand us blue-background fliers that talk about how they want to support Hogan; I need to find out how to ask the local Dems why I haven't seen them. We were told that our area was 65% supporting Hogan, which sounds to me like a GREAT PLACE TO TRY TO TURN THAT AROUND... *ahem*
We got a new beautifully squishy mattress on Saturday, which is still offgassing, but it has not yet helped me sleep more effectively; I seem to be once again passing through the phase of convoluted vaguely stressful dreams with large casts of incidental imaginary people who assign me things I'm not quite qualified to do in dark and sometimes cursed or haunted environments. Weird architecture, deep woods pennsic camps, random crap. No politics, thankfully.
