Nov. 3rd, 2005 01:15 pmSo after a disappointing quest last night for the new Martha Wells book, Gate of the Gods, which I wish to hoard and drool over as I write my novel (of three bookstores, only one had yet recieved a copy-- one copy, that is-- and they'd sold it already) I instead bought the new Patricia McKillip book, which is a collection of short stories, and thus vastly more dangerous. I mean, it doesn't take all day to read a short story. Just one would be ok, right?
Anyway, I spent the morning writing a vastly depressing scene set in the Sumerian/Babylonian/whatever underworld (depressing because it's a pretty depressing place) and I think it is now time to go and create the evil thing that was spawned by the combination of several conversations in the field this week: Zerg Barbie! (a la Blizzard's "christmas Kerrigan" ads the year that Brood Wars came out)
