What is love? 'tis not hereafter...

I think it is a terribly unfair trend I seem to be developing, that for the past two years the day I choose to make a pseudo-birthday expedition to see museamy stuff in DC in the week after Christmas also turns out to be the day I wake up sick. Despite that, I managed an assortment of new year's festivities (egg rolls with the Foxes-- with no shrimp!! I've been battling against shrimp this past, um, decade, and now Mr Fox's kidneys agree with me-- and troyfish's party at which I dressed up as psycho-killer barbie and shot people, and then the Beckman's day after party, another longstanding tradition) and am now being antisocial and pretending to clean my room. and sniffling.

But I had two thoughts I wanted to share-- firstly (mostly for ex-Violivians) I was just looking at the ghost site I put up when the original violiva went offline (http://www.thanate.com/violivia/) and it occurred to me that with the distressing amount of site space they've given me, I could probably put the entire site back up. I'll have to check how big it was, and whether there's anything (well, I can think of one thing already) I want to censor, but I'm currently using about 1/500th of my space allowance here, and until I find someone I can bribe to make me a flash "kill the minotaur" game, my largest file size will remain under 50K... it's sort of hard to fill up 5000MBs at that rate. Any thoughts from others?

And #2 was that here it's new years, and I'm busy being depressed by the workings of my brain and the passage of time (and now I've turned 27, I'm officially allowed to go mad... a decision I made when I was 20 and figured seven years was long enough to sort out what I was doing with my life and not need to, ha ha) and so I thought I would dwell on something cheerful, in this case my post-christmas purchase list:



Exciting things I've gotten in the last week:

1) 22+ yards of white muslin (the rest of a 25 yard bolt). now pre-washed and ready to make more white frilly things! Because I *always* need more white frilly things... I'm thinking the next one is going to involve smocking, too. And then I can copy some of the exciting things I cut pictures of out of the Pyramid collection, with my improvements, of course. :) er, just as soon as I finish with ssdevilducky's christmas present, of course...

2) a box of 80 chemical handwarmers (which hasn't come yet, but it's still exciting) Warm at work! always assuming I will be working next week, since they haven't gotten back to me about it yet, silly people.

3) vanilla cookies&cream gelato (at the Nat'l Gallery of Art, which is gone now, obviously, but it was really good)

4) 2 giant & vastly price-reduced yarn balls, which I may attempt to make a fake fox scarf (with eyes!) out of, although I guess I'll have to invent the pattern myself, since the person who was supposed to send it to me never did.

5) glow-in-the-dark embroidery floss! DMC makes it, and it's absurdly expensive (about $2 per skein) but it glows really well, and I have no idea what I'll do with it, but it's exciting!



But my new year's resolution (and for those of you who don't know, which I guess would be everybody, I don't actually ever make new year's resolutions) is that my room *will* be clean sometime this year. preferably during January. So perhaps I'd better do something about that...
