yard sales were good; I now have a brightly multi-colored scarf and the third matching barbie to make the Morrigan (among other things). Craft fair was also good, although several of the people I wanted to patronize weren't actually there, which was sad. And I didn't get a gorgeous (and highly expensive) reproduction woodblock print, either. Possibly I should not spend vast amounts of money this month for a change...

Instead I spent $4 at the craft store and with low-temp glue gun in hand I did horribly undignified things to my doll that involved taking his limbs off. And now his arms actually stay where I put them, instead of snapping to his sides at awkward angles. Unfortunately, I have not sorted out his legs quite as well yet; what we find is that good hot glue sueding is excellent and in all ways wonderful, and bad hot glue sueding doesn't quite make the joints stick properly, and squeaks. Oh well. I'll have to take him apart again anyway to sand off his mold seams, so I can continue to fiddle with what the points of contact are in his legs then. And possibly tighten up the elastic a bit, too.

Wow. I've never done hot glue sueding. Jack is semi-wired. That's about it. Oh, and Cybelle has a hairclip in her back so she can play her... *ahem*cough*cough* 16thcenturyitalianatefourstringtreblevioladagamba *cough*cough*

Well, I kept reading about it on DOA. And his arms really didn't want to do anything before... his hands only stayed straight out from the wrist, and while I could get him to open his arms out wide if I tinkered with them enough, for the most part his elbows would snap in to the waist and look awkward all the time.

Now, they'll do anything. It's amazing. :)

I'm not quite sure about the legs, though-- the points of contact between pieces are a little odder, and they weren't as much of a problem to begin with. I may just peel the glue out of his knees and hips and not worry about it. I'm kind of sad he doesn't seem to be able to cross his legs and sit up, but I think that's a structural thing, and no amount of sueding or wiring will make it better.

Oh, and Cybelle's instrument is at least an alto viol, if not a bass. Trebbles are pretty small-- about the volume of a modern viola, but deeper front to back. :) And now that Waif can use his hands, he may need a penny whistle...

Oh, I just wanted to let you know that I can't make it today, I've got to go through the stuff from the van and transfer things out of the car and do some cleaning around the house.
