Just got back from the wedding of one of the only friends I still keep in touch with from high school (my high school, not just people I knew then, like
fishy1) which was terribly sweet. Pretty garden site, a couple who look like they're actually going to do well together for the forseeable future, much fun had by all. Although... ARong is fabulous, but she's so normal it's scary. The entire wedding was in pink and white-- bridal party, favors, decor (and all the pinks went pretty well together, even.)
This wedding thing is kind of starting to disturb me, actually, since I know far too many people who are getting married, and so not only is there the usual bizarre cultural compulsion to discuss weddings in great detail when the subject comes up in female conversation (even if it's several of you discussing how odd it is that you're supposed to obsess over them, apparently that can take about half an hour) but the subject now comes up more frequently. And so of course one has to think about it, which leads to more conversations.... It's kind of appalling. I mean, while it's probably good to have a start to notions about whether you want large or small, or if there's a song you absolutely can't stand to have on the playlist at the reception, I found myself contemplating what seemed appropriate for favors.... There is NO REASON I would need to know this before even being engaged to anyone, especially since I'm not even sure if I care for the standard style of reception anyway.
Although, there must be bubbles. Little things of party bubbles. Because bubbles can be as much fun as balloons, and require no clean-up.
