...because I am an idiot.
Jun. 9th, 2007 09:45 amI am a bad rapier champion, and am not going to Highland River Melees after all. I'm such a flake. I was all dressed and ready, and then kept stalling, because I don't really want to go fence this weekend (although I expect I would have enjoyed myself once I actually got there), and eventually I sat at the bottom of the stairs right by the front door with all my fencing stuff and flipped a coin: heads I go, tails I stay home and run errands and butcher a stuffed sheep. It came up tails.
Of course, now I'm going to feel vaguely guilty all day, because if the Stierbach BB next weekend doesn't have fencing (which has happened before) then I won't be able to make it to anything before Assessment in July, and that's the last semi-local fencing event before Pennsic. Sigh. Such an idiot.
---2 pm: I feel sort of slightly better, given that having stayed home, wandered around Vienna briefly, and generally done nothing strenuous, my wrist hurts terribly. And I was sufficiently out of it to be almost unsafe driving. I think this is a sign that I got more dehydrated than I thought yesterday, and so it is probably good that I just made a pitcher of Thai tea and will probably drink about half of it over the afternoon. Yeah. There's a flayed sheepskin soaking in the bathroom sink; might as well start it out clean, right?

Date: 2007-06-09 09:47 pm (UTC)(actually, part of the problem with the event is that I didn't ask at practice on thursday, and so didn't know if anyone was planning on actually being there... and while I knew there would be lots of people, some of whom I'm sure I like, not having any "oh, and I'll get to see so-and-so" to look forward to makes me lazy.)
Any thoughts on when you want to get there? Or how long you want to stay? I'm half-way to having a portable sewing project to take with me, but haven't gotten as far as talking to my parents about their planned schedule re:carpooling or anything like that.
