...and some other stuff
Aug. 12th, 2007 04:46 pmsomewhat entertaining, relatively non-crazy Christian website with features on scary christian marketing, reviews of church services across the globe (including from someone who walked the Santiago pilgrimage in Spain), and terribly weird websites, including:
this is actually kind of creepy It is possible that everyone else out there already knew that you could buy velvet purses in the shape of female genitalia. Or wallets, or, um, hats... Really, though, once one gets over the oddness of the concept, and the "ooh, isn't it cute that I can store my [object of choice] in a rather expensive purse shaped like a vulva"... well, I guess I've never really been into symbolic or feminine liberating art anyway. It just seems awfully silly.
...and in my absence, I appear to have missed the advent of this. The months are filling up. If you want to do it all, there is now...
january- national novel editing month (I think... I can't find where the NaNo people used to have a bunch of months posted for "what else to do with your time when it's not November")
february- something about record an album in a month... I don't know where to find it online, though
march- alternate NaNo (this may be just
sourmonkeylamb)
april-
may- [somewhere in here is the 48-hr film festival]
june- scriptfrenzy
july- official alternate NaNo, pennsic panic
august- daily art, pennsic, back to school if you're doing that
september-
october-[24-hour comic day]
november- the Real NaNoWriMo, 50k words in a month
december- national novel finishing month, holiday and/or 12th night preparations
and I'm sure there are ones I haven't heard of yet. If I wanted to schedule something for every day of my entire life... well, I'd never get around to it.
Oh, and for those with fairfax county library cards (or possibly not even that)... they have instituted an adult summer reading program, where if you go into the library before september 1 and write down 5 books you've read over the summer, they'll let you pick out a free paperback to take home with you.

Date: 2007-08-13 05:21 pm (UTC)...and my recollection was there was an LJ community or something for the July one, so while not supported by the NaNo staff, it was a more-than-just-you-guys sort of thing.
