rhetorical question for the day
Sep. 29th, 2007 03:22 pmSo I got this antique lace assortment at a yard sale a while back, and soaked the ones that were slightly stained in oxyclean for a few days, and am still planning to get around to boiling the badly stained ones in biz... and I have one question. In with the actual lace lengths, there are a bunch of these mini-doily blocks:

What on earth is one supposed to do with these things? Why do people make them? They're totally pointless! (and yes, the second square in from the bottom left corner has the silhouette of a squirrel on it.)
Meanwhile, I have mostly finished butchering the doll wig:
There are no "before" pictures; if you want one you can look at cancan's. The model doll is hideous, and poor Waif, even after I carved a hole into the bangs for him to see out, looked like a Japanese schoolgirl who'd had a bad bleach incident. Even though the texture of the hair itself was beautiful. If I ever get a girl doll, I will have to get another long straight cancan wig for her.

It is black, and brown, and goes with his clothes. You can still sort of see the gaping hole in the front, although I shifted the wig forwards on his head, and it looks much less horrible now that the rest of the wig more or less matches it. (When I first did that, it made me want to cry.)

Ultimately, I want to even it up a bit, and make the (his) left side a bit more layered in like the right. Unfortunately, I'm going to need to hunt up a wig-safe heat source first, as it got somewhat squashed in transit, and without the hat, it does this:

Which makes things hard to even up, and looks pretty silly. Oh well. It is excellent, however, to have a wig that *actually fits his head*! And doesn't make it far larger, or shift around when I touch it or anything like that.
Although what I should actually be doing is outlining plot to sort out how to handle the last two chapters. Unless they turn out to be more. And I've realized that the sad side-effect of having an Argent and an Aladdin as pivotal characters is that I can't abreviate everyone by first letter as I usually do.

Date: 2007-09-29 08:16 pm (UTC)I actually really like the carved hole in the middle so he can see. When I'm not all sinus-infected I want to have another crafty day. *sigh*

Date: 2007-09-30 01:16 am (UTC)yeah... although my october/november schedule is changing on a daily basis at the moment, today's version has me with a possible free day next sunday and then *maybe* the weekend after the hallowe'en party. Tell Ava to have his demons fix your sinuses for you. (If they can build bridges and palaces in minutes and things like that surely they can manage a sinus infection, right?)
