musical heaters...
Jan. 18th, 2006 11:06 amOk, so despite the lovely sunshine outside (now), the crew chief decided to call a rain day this morning. So here I am back a the hotel, while a parade of people (off and on up to 4 different ones now) come by my room to stare at my heater, which is theoretically being fixed. This is getting absurd... it didn't work when I moved to this room last friday (from one with a connecting door, ie, no soundproofing whatsoever) and so someone fixed it over the weekend, and then twice since, as every time I tried to put it on "low heat" it broke again. And every time I went down to the desk they'd ask "do you want another room?" to which I'd re-iterate that no, I've moved once already, that was enough. And it's not as if they wouldn't have to fix it anyway...
So now the maintenance guy, who I would love to question about what he's doing, except that his english apperars to be barely better than my spanish, came in and replaced something. Then he told me it was fixed and went away again. Then he and a supervisor (I think) came back, and took the unit apart again, and went away, and now the first guy is back doing er, something... and every so often someone else stops by to stare at it. Either this is some sort of exciting new problem, or they've always wanted to see what the inside of a dusty old heating unit looks like. Oh, and every time someone tried to talk to me about it I was in the middle of a fight in FF7. But I get the impression that by the time they're done, the entire innards of the heater will have been replaced, so maybe it'll actually work. Which would be nice, with the cold front that's supposed to be showing up around now.
