over a gallon of tea later...

...I am still coughing when I run out of liquid. It is very sad. (and yes, I did actually count-- the bottle I was refilling in the lab was 20 fluid ounces, and my mug at home is 15, so I have drunk 150 fl oz of liquid not counting the tea at dinner-- a gallon is 128) But I am not doing anything all weekend, so that should help.

Also, the boots came. They are cute, and fit pretty well, and have 4" heels. I contemplate how much of a sacrifice I wish to make for fashion. (I wore them for almost half an hour (slightly discontinuous) around the house, and my feet have not fallen off yet... but this is not to say that I wouldn't die half-way through the evening.) Oh, and they're 100% synthetic (ok, unsurprising for $35 boots), and the front zippers are sewn shut. There's another zipper up the inside of the leg that is actually functional. These people [who designed the boots] are weird. I almost want to take them [the boots] apart and make a pattern for better ones, but that would be silly. Maybe if I keep them and they wear out.

and the Lady says: why haven't you made me boots like that?
me: wouldn't you rather have a toy nautilus instead?
her: No.

Possibly because of your sickness, I read "toy nautilus" as "tonsillitis," in which case I was totally with the doll. However...

um... I could make her 4" platforms, I guess, but since her feet are only 8mm long, that would look kind of odd, to say the least. Her legs are long enough already, so I don't think stilts would help.
