Many years later...
May. 13th, 2008 09:38 pmToday I have clean sheets, and worked nearly a full day. And despite the slow approach of solstice-induced sleep deprivation, and the disturbing dreams that go along with it (this morning's I didn't manage to forget) I got up in a good mood and in the beltway dead-space of commute, while I was busy coming to a dead stop at the far side of the American Legion bridge because for some reason no one can maintain speed going back up that hill in the mornings, I realized how to end my novel. The one that's only got a wrap-up chapter left besides cleaning up all the messes I've left for myself. Which is good, since I'm horrible at endings.
Has anyone got any idea of price quotes for getting a manuscript printed out and spiral bound? Maybe I'm old-fashioned, but I don't want to start uploading my document to office supply store sites just to run through their system and get an approximate price quote. I think I'm looking at around 150 pages, unless I double-space, in which case double that. But I edit better by hand.
And I was going to do some spring cleaning (again) this evening, but ended up tidying up my ipod instead. And it still hasn't got the HHGuide stuff squared away yet. Why, oh why, does itunes have an "audiobook" main folder, separate from "music," which refuses to accept things which are labeled "audiobook" under the genre tag?
Tomorrow the lab will be a madhouse. We were pretty much at capacity (one real chair left unused, since Steve was fixing equipment) and tomorrow there will be four more people there. I hope to be able to take some tools and a bag of artifacts and (if I'm lucky) the Parks Canada glass glossary, and run off to some dark dusty obscure corner of the warehouse where nobody else is.
With luck this will prevent me from being reduced to not wanting to talk to anybody-at-all by the end of the day.
