A wee bit of self sufficiency/individualism: "I'm just doing my own thing and not bothering anyone, why are you bothering me? If everyone just did their own thing and didn't bother others, we'd get along fine.."
Suggestions for improvement or change are always criticisms in some mindsets.
People should be pleasant and kind to each other always (or at least in public)and not cause a disturbance.
Change is inherently threatening.
