Exciting room revolutions!

Before:

This is the futon my parents put in my room in my absence, which is perfectly good as a guest bed, but the mattress tends to pack down over time, making it not the best of things to sleep on continually. And I like my bed. So after much moving of furniture, and stuff in and out of my storage unit (since the bed was at the back) here is:

After:

Still very much a work-in-progress... The shelves have been switched so the long one is on the top, but all the silly stuff that was on top of the bookshelf needs to get put out on the bit above the bed (and incidentally, all the boxes now on those shelves belong to my mother, not me) and I still need to rescue the CD tower from the bathroom, and bring some semblance of order to the stuff under the bed. Oh, and vacuum. Much vaccuming is desperately needed.

I'm still trying to come up with a good place for my bookshelf that isn't behind the closet half of the bed (yes, my bed has a closet under it-- isn't it fabulous?) but I have exiled two pieces of furniture that weren't mine to other parts of the house (with my mother's approval, even!) and created floor space. The original plan of having the futon in couch phase across the front of the bed made the room much too crowded, but it works pretty well as a window seat.

And as an extra bonus feature, I get to be beheaded by the ceiling fan once it gets hot out. Hm...

All in all, that was pretty much my weekend, which seemed particularly long after I actually went out on Friday night with [livejournal.com profile] fishy1 and people to eat and see art, and we ended up staying up late watching Boondock Saints, which I complained about the whole time. (Though in all fairness to the movie, I'm undecided as to whether it was actually worse than the El Mariachi trilogy from the previous weekend, or if I just had less incentive to sit still and watch it this time.)

Yay bed! Now I have all sorts of exciting sore muscles, and I am going to get into the bed and go to sleep.

According to "Mythbusters", the worst the ceiling fan should do to you is bonk you upside the head. I don't think decapitation (by fan anyway) is in your future. :)

but at least i am increasing your list of "yes, i've seen that and you can't make me watch it again." movies.

But I actually want to see Barbarella; I'm not sure that counts... (I sort of wanted to see at least Desparado, too, after the phase where straight guys kept trying to convince me that because of that movie Antonio Banderes was the hottest guy ever-- which I totally disagreed with, by the way)

Yes, I keep remembering you've got the Zorro tape, but since it's not as if I'm trying to watch it, I'm not too concerned. I still have that recipee to give you, too, so someday we can trade.
