Interesting...

fishy1 and friends:
Care and feeding of your introvert (As I read this, it's wildly biased. Towards me... Still worth the read for the concept, though.)
and the related introvert/extrovert dictionary (again highly simplified, but an interesting introduction. Particularly for those who don't like to do in-depth reading...)
I am still working out the difference between "I am depressive and need other people to cheer me up and entertain me" and "I hate everybody, but if they all go away and let me read/write/make something I'll be fine." Knowing that I go through both states is a good start though. Also, I definitely need to be reading more modern psychology and brain/behavioral research.

Date: 2008-08-28 10:45 pm (UTC)I would say that I just have a very strong sense of what it's not worth bothering to talk about to whom. I've fairly recently worked out the small talk sort of thing (for a while I never gave more than rote responses to strangers, because any time I tried to join in a normal-people conversation they just kind of stared at me blankly.) I'm still working on the long-term interaction politeness (remembering to bother asking silly questions, since I generally just assume if people want to talk about things, they will. Not that I do, usually....)
Someday I may yet master the art of actual networking. You may think you're acting, but you are much better at it than I am. I've decided it may be because I learned about people from books, not from actually talking to them. Therefore I am often terribly insightful when analyzing what people say about themselves and each other, but awful about seeing or doing it for myself.
