escape from the thorny wilds

Project is finished; we've escaped the sketchy Day's Inn and dispersed, delighted to stop having to pretend we're actually working. So I got home and checked e-mail, and got something from my web hosting service telling me how wonderful it is that they've upgraded my style of account from 500 to 5000 MB of disk space, along with better bandwith and the option of 500 e-mail accounts. Now the last time I checked, I was using about 9 MB, and I think when I signed up for the service about two years ago I had 25 MB and I missed the transition to 500. If only I had a flash editor (and knew how to use it) I could expand my site, and make mini-games to kill the minotaur and stuff. Of course, right now I'm supposed to be writing...

If I get half-way through tomorrow's quota by this evening, I think I'll go buy the new Martha Wells book (which came out tomorrow) so that I can drool over the prospect of reading it when I finish the novel.

meanwhile, my mother is trying to convince me I want to be an election officer. I can actually think of relatively few options for my tuesday that I'd less rather do...

chapter 3

So I just finished chapter three, in which Scheherazade gets to the underworld, meets an old friend, and he spends the entire rest of the chapter talking. And talking. And when I give them something else to think about by introducing new situations, he talks about that too, and he didn't even explain what I wanted to know, which was how he ended up working for the Duat (egyptian underworld) beaurocracy. (how the heck do you spell this? my spell check can't figure out my mangling of it) He didn't used to do this, in the last book...

Fortunately, she has now left egypt for someplace in america, and we will most likely not see him again.
