Does anyone remember the context on the line about "[when] you're dead, you're dead," from Into the Woods?

It turned up in my head a couple days ago (while contemplating how little the the people in the graves are likely to care about my trying to be polite and not step on their heads, at least) and I finally figured out it was the witch who says it, but I don't know if it's the baker's wife or the narrator she's talking about, or what the lines before and after are.

I somewhat conquered the urge to be self-indulgent and just read and sleep, which is what I felt like doing this evening. Of course, the fact that it's not cool *inside* the house, and I have a bit of a headache from it being icky and way too hot earlier, and have been stupid-tired and brainless all week... none of that helps particularly. But anyway, I made it to 14k...

The old man has given Caroline a number of potentially useful things (including a magic table cloth, so she won't starve to death before sorting out where she's going!) and then gotten drunk and told her a number of potentially useful things. And it turns out that his wife (and the former owner of the magic objects) was the little sister of the Baba Yaga-esque Witch, and the Weaver we met earlier. I'm not sure how convincing a drunk I write, though. I mean, I don't know many drunk people... (sort of like not knowing many dead people, only... less permanant?)

And while I'm a pathetic 17% behind if I'm going for 50k, I'm just barely ahead for 30...
