It seemed kind of self-indulgent when I decided not to go to work today, but when after sleeping 9 hours last night and off and on all day I continue to feel slow, sluggish, and faintly out of it, perhaps it's just as well I didn't try to spend the day digging, screening, and hauling around buckets of dirt. Whether I'll be sufficiently alive to try fencing tomorrow remains to be seen; Crusades ought to be fun, and if I'm too tired to enjoy it I'm not going out. Sad, but so. At least I'm no longer having to stop and think half way through my sentances before I can finish them.

And, in the crowning touch, I woke up from the latest nap and about five minutes later got a call from the [livejournal.com profile] grauwulf whose company decided to pull the last indignity of bad employers everywhere and have his recruitment agency mention to him this afternoon that oh, by the way, he's leaving today instead of next friday since this is the end of the pay cycle. I've had temp agencies do that, where everyone you talk to is busy saying, "oh, we'll get you more work soon, it's just around the corner," and then someone from the temp agency calls you up at seven pm and says "How do you like it there? Oh, well, don't go back tomorrow, ok?" Gotta love people.

Oh well... it gives him more time to move. And maybe he'll be up here early enough that I don't feel bad going off and doing other stuff all weekend two weeks from now. Because there is all sorts of conflicting excitement going on on the 20th (hm... university with interesting stuff, or Leesburg court and market day?), and then I've already paid for the closed doll hallowe'en party on the 21st.

Everyone is out of town, and theoretically I could do something vaguely useful (like sew buttons back on my works shirts, or run an errand or two) but I am far more likely to spin up the playstation and see if I can reformat and save to the extra memory card I stole off people months ago.

Everyone needs: this!

hee hee. I think I may still have my inflatable one around somewhere, but she didn't have nearly as exciting colors.

I'm kind of a fan of this night thing. It's cool and not bright out, which is nice.

But anyway, I made it out of the house briefly, and went to K-mart. And I have found the pair of shorts I've been looking for for some time now. They actually *fit*, have a waist at the waist, end just below the knee when I'm standing, and have cargo pockets with buttons instead of velcro that wears out and looks dumb. The ironic thing is that they're a Boy's size 16 Husky (ie, the largest size in the boy's section). None of the women's pants actually fit in the back, and even the ones that claim to be waist-high are about 3" below my waistline. Hence why they gape open at the back and the inseam is too tight... And the occasional ones that do fit look terrible. Go figure.
