Another foot or three of snow is rolling in to our bit of the east coast for the next day or two, and I'm not planning on going anywhere before Sunday, and then only just down the road to [livejournal.com profile] alricthemad's superbowl party. The last time I went to a superbowl party, I made zombies (which I unaccountably cannot find pictures of) and now I'm trying to work out what would live up.

At any rate, yesterday I finally cooked down the pumpkin that's been sitting around waiting for me to get to it since the end of October, and then tossed the scraped rind and discarded guts into the compost pile before it got snowed over again. This afternoon, I heated up the leftover curry that [livejournal.com profile] grauwulf kindly forgot to take with him for lunch yesterday, and ate it at the window watching the squirrels picking over the bits of pumpkin skin.

It's still nearly 40 degrees outside, so the snow that's begun falling isn't sticking yet, and the house is warm but slightly smelly, as I've been painting things in the basement. I'm working on an exciting craft-space project which I hope to reveal soon, and remain absolutely delighted that we HAVE HEAT. Not only have we got heat, but due to the amazing benefits of modern technology (which, I admit, may well have contributed to the climate issues that are bringing us the third major snowfall of the season) we have heat that doesn't fill the house with smoke particles.

I just went out to shovel the first three inches or so of heavy wet snow off the front walk. Ironically, the thermometer says it's still only 33 degrees out there, but by the time that I finished shoveling the front steps, ten feet of pathway, and twenty-some feet of wide sidewalk outside our fence, there was already a solid layer of snow about an eighth of an inch thick where I started. It may be a bit of a long weekend.

Meanwhile, I sort jewelry supplies and things, which is fiddly but entertaining.
