The thrift store has provided, although I actually had something slightly larger than this in mind. However, it doesn't take up a lot of space in the living room and won't take up a lot of space wherever we end up storing it off season, and cost all of $4 that didn't support the creation of further plastic, so I'm calling it satisfactory. The lights are three of the 20-light strings that my parents got before I was born and I inherited when they got the new multi-flashing pattern kind when I was in high school. Ironically, the packaging says that they are "Low wattage Energy Saver;" next year perhaps I'll get to the buying of LED light strings bit. There may also be an addition of something for a tree skirt, or eventually a slightly sturdier block for a stand, but this is what we've got, and it's more festive than the grain-of-wheat LEDs I put on the fig tree.

The christmas letter died a neglected death-- after I finished my bit of it and passed it on to [personal profile] grauwulf to finish, although admittedly he's got a lot going on at the moment-- and we just sent out cards without. Nearly all of those have actually made it out of the house, though, and I think the only thing I'm left scrambling on is what else to get my mother, since I only have one very small thing for her, and no good ideas.
