"This is Just to Say..."

Somewhere I have completely lost the ability to get to work on time. Seriously-- I'm turning into Steve, who always used to roll into the lab around 2, having run a few errands after he left the house and then gotten caught at the library, wash nails for a few hours, and then go home to cook dinner... Ironically, Steve has become much more reliable recently. Possibly because there's more lab time vs field time at the moment, and he feels some need to maintain a bit of income (despite his wife's successful law career, which allows him to do this kind of thing.)

Partly I can blame the house and the cat, neither of which is part of my normal daily routine. But largely? Checking my e-mail and doing a bit of whatever-project-I'm-working-on is far more important to me than whether I get to work at all. Clearly this sort of thing should be providing at least some of my pin money.

Archaeology, mainly lab work at the moment. So people go out and dig stuff up in a carefully controlled fashion, and then in the lab we get back bags of all the artifacts (non-natural stuff) they sifted out of the dirt, and we get to wash it and catalog what everything is. It's... sort of boring, but in an interesting way, except that I'm horribly burnt-out on doing any of it.
