The handout I got in election officer training has a rather idealistic cover sheet which includes the sentence: "Our task requires wisdom, courage and the desire to remain focused on our vision of free and impartial elections despite changes in our society and its laws."

I have a bag full of food, and I have found my thermos, which will contain tea. I have nearly sorted out what I'm going to be wearing tomorrow, and my "I voted" sticker is ready to be stuck to that. The alarm clock is set for 4 am. Yeah. Wish us luck... If I were asleep in the next ten minutes, I'd actually get 8 hours.

Also, despite my pathetic word count, several pages of it is actual conversation. I need to stock up on that now, before Caroline gets lost in the woods and has no one but the pig and sometimes the snake to talk to for chapters on end. And the quote for today:

me: So if I've got a prince called Akbar, what's his father's name?
my father: Allah.

Ok, not quite what I had in mind...

Allah would be the name for the father of Abudalla, following the whole naming ones first son "Son of Dad's Name" principle. For Akbar you can just pick whatever.

I was just looking for another arabic-derived name (which we came up with.) He was going with the "God our father" sort of thing, which didn't help me find a name for the king. It was just kind of funny at the time.
