Is it bad that I want a whole bucket full of these? (and lower grade unbleached ones would be just fine. Or even nice synthetics, but I haven't seen those in smaller than 3mm diameter. Although I have not by any means performed an exhaustive search.)
Aside from that, I have a box of print-your-own wedding invitations which are in need of text and a printer that works, and I further present the joys of home-ownership:
The good news:

Curtains! Old ugly pink plastic full curtains have not yet been taken down yet, but they remain open as both modesty and daylight are preserved by the application of new muslin curtains. We determined that no hems were necessary, as the curtain rods stick out far enough that they don't argue with the windowsills, and the horrible wrinkly bottoms which I was unable to iron out in half an hour on high heat with steam (I miss the industrial iron in the costume shop, have I mentioned that recently?) are not particularly noticeable in the normal lighting conditions of this room.
And the bad news:

grauwulf vs the wall. Note the hideous glue, which once held hideous faded-minty-avacado-plastic tiles to the wall. You can see a couple of them along the corner wall of the pantry. The bits being pried up are plywood covering what was once a window from the dining room onto the porch, and now is a wall between the dining room and the kitchen.

Detail of plywood covering, glue, concrete & plaster wall construction (now held together mainly by glue on the kitchen side, and presumably wallpaper over lead paint on the other), narrow wood flashing over 2x4 former window frame, and crazy quantities of nails holding the slats that make up the dining room wall together.

Removing the rest of the plywood reveals the bizarre tangram nature of the flashing, and the fact that the central 2x4 is just nailed into the old window frame.
Ultimately, the plan is to put the window back as a pass-through into the dining room, in a desperate attempt to coax out a few more square feet of counterspace.
