After a sadly disappointing day (although it did include a cheap lavender bookshelf and a flying turtle) yesterday, I was up until quarter past three reading the new Gillian Bradshaw historical fiction, which has a 2nd century BC Rhodian warship that chases down pirates, three kings and a seriously evil queen, intrigue, poisonings, a lovely musician, and all kinds of other fun. I feel like staying up past bedtime has become my equivalent of cheating on a diet, although presumably [livejournal.com profile] grauwulf will object if I just keep reading until I get to the end of the book at a time when I'm keeping him up as well.

Wedding invitations are coming together except for the spelling errors on all the ones we printed out yesterday. Sigh. With luck, today's version of productive will be the new and upgraded model, and I will accomplish something where half of it doesn't need to be redone later.

well I don't think I've ever complained about you keeping me up late before, but if the book is worthy then it is worthy. ~grin~

To which, I just put one of the bendy reading lamps on your side of the bed.
~smile~

And don't worry about the invites, we're still right on schedule to get them into the mail by this weekend. I think we made some rather good progress actually.

Now, I have a kitchen to make my bitch. Have a good day love.

A book that is worthy at 2 am will be equally worthy the next afternoon, after sleep and doing things other than reading. I am just getting worse and worse at actually putting books down when there isn't an immediate need to do so.

I cheer for you against the evil kitchen.

I never understood the people who read to make themselves sleepy. Unless there's some outside influence, if I take a book to bed to read, I'm there until the book is done. That's the only way I'm able to stop.

this depends on what it is I'm reading. If I'm reading something I 'want' to read then I do the same thing (read until it's finished or fantastically late) but nothing will put you to sleep quite as well as reading a programming language specification, or project document. It's like Unisom on dead trees.
