and so it goes...
Jan. 26th, 2009 10:55 amFeeling a bit under the weather today; sore throat, slightly stuffy sinuses, and an intermittent desire to go back to sleep. Yesterday went all right; there was much madness of pre-made wedding gowns, none of which had real sleeves, and all of which apparently required the scary spandex torso-sleeve bra to wear. There were super-full princess skirts, and I got to experiment with the mechanics of moving in a dress with a train, and I did not say anything horribly rude to the consultant along the lines of: "I'm getting married, not going clubbing; can't I have a little modesty, here?"
I also finally made it to My-An fabrics, which was an interesting journey, but their dupioni prices are about the same as G-Street's (and their selection a bit smaller) so I went home and ordered a huge number of swatches from the Silk Baron website instead. I may yet go back for trims once I've got my fabrics, but that remains to be seen.
Plan for today involves more mending things, sleep, and possibly further exploring the Librivox audio library, if my connection holds out. They have a semi-decent reader doing the Chronicles of Clovis, which I've been listening to bits of.
Also, I am now (somewhat reluctantly) twitterfied, under the name of thanate7 because although I haven't run into western hemisphere competition for my username in the years since I dropped my hotmail account, there's apparently some possibly-korean guy who's already got the twitter name. I am, of course, horribly offended by this, as he is not only male (and therefore what is he doing stealing my feminine-form ancient greek name?), but writes in a language I can't snoop on. At any rate, I have no notion of whether I'll use the account much if at all (I shall perhaps have to seek out an i-chat style interface so I can have it open but background-ish) but since I know about 3 people's usernames, I figured I would mention it in case others wish to track me down.
