1) What blogs (if any, or course) do you read because you consider the writers to be good essayists? (livejournal or otherwise)

2) Does anyone have experience with gel and long hair? Pretty much the total of my knowledge is that one is supposed to put "some" in when wet, it's theoretically supposed to hold curls or shape, but too much will make your hair "crunchy." Further enlightenment would be appreciated.

Ohhh dear. I havn't gelled my hair since it was very, very short, but I'd imagine you'd want no more than half a teaspoon - 1 teaspoon evenly distributed along the length. When my hair was 1' long all around, a pea size bit would hold it all in place if applied when wet.

1) I despise reading blogs of essayists unknown to me. Who has the time????

2) You saw my hair - mid-length. No where near as long or heavy as yours, but mine does have a curl to it IF I put in a product called Australian Scrunch and then....uh....scrunch it. I don't dry it, just keep scrunching and it gets very curly!

Heh; it depends what you're looking for, I guess. I despise wading through ignorant responses on forums, or reading fanfic. Who has the time? ;) (I ask because I'm looking for short-form worthy brain content, partly to try to get back into thinking in short stories sometimes, and most of my friends don't do essay-form these days)

How does your scrunch stuff do for long-term tidiness? What I'm presently looking for is something that'll keep my hair looking decent all day with limited repairs necessary. It sounds possibly worth looking into either way-- thanks!

Heh, your passive-aggressiveness always surprises me. touche and point taken. I take my non-fiction in published form.

The scrunch product works exactly like that - it's designed to give the scrunchy body without the mess!

I use an aloe gel to keep my loose bits back when I bun my hair up in the morning and it sticks them put until I get home in the evening as long as I don't mess with my head. I don't know if it will give you the structural integrity you want, though.

I read Echidne and Shapely Prose and Shakesville. If I get bored, I'll go poke at Pandagon but sometimes Amanda gets a little radical for me. I do like Pam Spaulding, though. I tend to go with group blogs as they are more likely to have new content more often.
